4. Order BitMEX

Now that you have the funds to trade, we will show you how to place an order in earnest!

There are two main ways to place an order on all exchanges, including the BitMEX exchange.

Limit Order - An order method to buy or sell at a specified price.

Market Order - A method of placing an immediate buy or sell order at the current trading price.

Limit order vs market order

A limit order is an order method in which an order is executed only when the price you clearly want is reached. This has the great advantage of lowering transaction costs. In terms of transaction costs, usually, Market orders are cheaper than TAKER orders on futures exchanges. In the case of BitMEX, if you place a limit order, we give you a commission of 0.025%.

Yes, that's right!

We don't take a fee, we pay a fee. The reason for this is that when you place a limit order, the items are accumulated in the asking price window. Placing a volume gives you more liquidity and allows market participants who place market orders to trade at the desired price smoothly. So, in effect, it can be seen as a structure in which market participants who trade at market prices pay commissions to market participants who place limit orders.

In addition to the transaction fee, there is a slippige. Slippige is the cost of buying or selling a few ticks above or selling below the desired asking price because the investment funds are too large or lack liquidity. Because a limit is set to buy or sell at a specific price point, you can avoid slippige and receive commission compensation for providing liquidity.

But, is a limit order really the best way?

If you are using a long-term strategy, you can accumulate coins using limit orders in slow installments. You can take a strategy of realizing profits by entering as cheaply as possible and selling high or short selling at the highest possible price and then short-covering from the bottom.

However, in the case of short-term trading, if you enter a position immediately when the conditions are met and use the strategy of eating and coming out, it may be advantageous if the transaction must be concluded rather than entering a few more expensive ones. In this case, the intention is to enter the current price and earn profits even if you pay more transaction costs.

In other words, as Warren Buffett once said, "Money moves from the impatient to the patient". Of course, it would be wise to use the optimal ordering method according to your strategy~?

Let's sort it out.

1.지정가.PNG

- The limit price can minimize transaction costs (fees and slippige).

- The limit price receives a commission as a reward for providing liquidity to the market.

- Limit price is the best ordering method for mid- to long-term strategies.

2.시장가.PNG

- The market price is more expensive than the limit order for commission and slippige.

- The market price allows you to immediately enter/close a position at any desired time.

- Unlike a limit order, the market price can lower the probability of non-execution.

In addition to limit and market orders, there are 5 other ordering methods available!

  • stop loss order
  • stop market order
  • tracking stop loss order
  • Take Profit Limit Order
  • Take Profit Market Order

Let's take a brief look at each order method!

Limit loss is an automatic ordering method that clears the loss section at the limit price.

If you make a short buy, you are setting a limit sell order in the loss section.

If you short sell, you are placing a limit buy order in the loss section.

For example, you bought Bitcoin for $10,000.

You set a stop limit of $9,900, and you set a limit of $9,950.

This means that when Bitcoin reaches $9,900, you place a stop-loss order at $9,950 with a limit.

This can have the advantage of minimizing losses.

Of course, there is also the possibility that the order will not close and go further down.

A reverse market order is an order method that stops at the market price when a loss occurs in the position you entered.

The difference from the same order method as the stop limit is that the stop limit is executed at the limit price and the stop market order is executed directly at the market price.

In simple terms, both are stop loss functions, one can be understood as a limit and one as a market stop loss.

Tracking Stop Loss is an order method that liquidates a stop loss or profit loss at the market price from the position you entered.

Regardless of the entry price, the order is +/- based on the current price.

For example, you buy bitcoin at $10,000 and set it to stop loss in the market at $9,900 as a tracking stop loss.

Then, when Bitcoin reaches $9,900, it is all liquidated at the market price.

At the same time, if you set a Tracking Stop Loss at $12,000, Bitcoin will be settled at the market price when it reaches $12,000.

In this way, you can put creative spells such as -10% stop loss in the downward direction and 20% profit loss in the upward direction.

Take Profit Limit is an order method in which the current position is liquidated at the limit price in the profit section.

In the case of a short purchase, the limit sale is set at a price higher than the entry price.

In the case of a short sale, you buy at a limit price at a price lower than the entry price.

The order is automatically entered at the set trigger price.

A liquidation order is placed at the limit price at the specified price.

A take-profit market order is an order method that liquidates at the market price in the profit zone of the current position.

The same concept or difference from a take-profit limit is that it is liquidated at market price.

This is the concept of paying a small transaction fee so that you can make profit margins with certainty.

With the above additional ordering method, a variety of strategic trading is possible. Some full-time BitMEX users manage multiple BitMEX accounts at the same time while reducing their own risk and generating stable and steady profits!
